Wedding Bells!
A few photos from the wedding of Palavra e Elonga on 9/21/2007.
Don't they look happy?! And did you know that Martelo Hebreu, an ordained member of the United Church of Life, officiated the ceremony? He's doing Angola and Jenny's next. Book him now before his rates go up! Did you also know that Elonga made her headdress herself? Yep... I believe it took in the neighborhood of 60 hours to sew all the beadwork together.
Other cool things from the wedding: The wedding cake was three tiers of Voodoo Donuts. Contra Mestre Lengua showed up to play berimbau (I know!). It was held on the roof of a parking garage downtown. The couple met in a capoeira roda, so they had a roda at the wedding.
We're all so excited for you both. Felicitaçoes!

Web site updated and class schedule changed!
Hello Capoeiristas!
Axe and welcome to February, a big birthday month for all of us. Class schedules have changed and will be available on the website shortly. Also, the fee for a month of classes has dropped to $95!!! A treat for us all. We had a fantastic meeting last week to discuss opportunities and possibilities for events and rodas for 2007. I think it was very productive and you will be able to see the results soon on the wall in the academy. More to come soon...

Capoeira Regional is blowing up!
Classes are getting bigger and bigger! Mestre Almiro has introduced a new twist to class, with the second (intermediate/advanced) class starting immediately after the beginner classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings, which allows for a longer class and the inclusion of 15 minutes of music at the end of every class!
Saturdays are now mostly Roda Skills and game playing. Come check out a Saturday to see what Capoeira really is, or come during the week to see what classes are.
Axe!
And a special axe to Pintado and his new Lending Library full of capoeira videos and books. Thanks Pintado!
